Co-weaving, on the Cracks of Concrete

<Co-Weaving, on Cracks of Concrete> experiments with how we can ‘make a voice together.’ Despite the individual’s different situations and desires, we search for what connects and draws us together by overlapping each other’s voices. Through this, we aim to create a poetic and collective practice that can imagine our desirable future different from the present.

The six performers tell each one’s non/fictional story related to reproductive labor & care. The six unrelated stories become intertwined with other stories by speaking along, imitating, or transforming the other’s sentences and movements. Affective movements entangled with speech reveal the underlying emotions, generate new thoughts, and branch out new stories. Through this process, we weave a story that is both one and plural.

<함께 짓기, 부서진 콘크리트 위에서>는 각 개인의 상황과 욕구가 다름에도 불구하고, 서로의 목소리가 겹쳐지는 부분을 찾아 ‘함께’ 소리 낼 수 있는지를 실험한다. 이를 통해 지금과 다른 미래를 ‘함께’ 상상할 수 있는 시적이며 집단적인 프랙티스를 발전시키고자 한다. 

여섯 명의 퍼포머는 각자 생식 혹은 재생산 노동과 관련한 개인의 경험과 상상이 섞인 이야기를 들려준다. 그들은 서로 연관성이 없는 상대방의 이야기와 움직임을 모방하고, 동조하고, 변형하며 이야기의 가지를 뻗어간다. 하나의 이야기는 다른 이야기들과 엮이며 그 저변의 감정을 노출하거나 예상하지 못했던 새로운 생각을 생성할 수 있게 된다. 이 과정을 통해 비로소 하나이자 복수 plural의 이야기를 직조한다.

Workshop

<Future Reproduction and Care Making Project> is designing different forms of reproduction (reproduction and reproductive labor) and care through long, slow research, workshops, and performance series.  Through this project, we hope that many people would participate in the exercise of rethinking the current state of reproduction and care and reimagining our desirable future. Therefore, during the process of creating the performance, three workshop series were held, and more than 15 audiences and artists participated in each session. Workshop documentation can be found in the link below.

<미래의 재생산과 돌봄 제작 프로젝트>는 다른 형태의 재생산(reproduction, 생식과 재생산 노동)과 돌봄의 모습을 길고 느린 호흡의 리서치와 워크숍 및 공연 시리즈를 통해 설계 중이다.  이 프로젝트를 통해 현재의 재생산 (생식과 재생산 노동)과 돌봄의 모습을 돌아보고 우리가 바라는 미래의 모습을 상상하는 연습에  많은 이들이 동참하기를 바랐다. 따라서 <함께 짓기, 부서진 콘크리트 위에서>공연을 창작하는 과정 동안 세 가지 워크숍 시리즈를 진행하였고 매 회당 15명 이상의 관객 및 예술가들이 참여하였다. 워크숍 관련 내용과 활동 모습은 아래 링크로 확인가능하다.
